Designated Component Funds

Philanthropy begins in our backyards and on our main streets, in our farm communities and workplaces. The charitable inclination is universal and individual philanthropy begins at home, wherever home is.

This concept is the framework of NMF's efforts in building community assets. There are now nearly 300 component funds, established by NMF for their own purposes, that are helping to retain regional assets while raising funds to support community projects.

Component funds allow advisory committees to focus on the charitable need and leave the investment and administrative tasks to NMF. This partnership ensures that local goals are met and all financial transactions meet state and federal guidelines.

Some of NMF's component funds have been a part of the foundation for several years and grown to the point where they developed programs, conduct annual special events, and are making substantial grants. These funds have donors, friends, advisory committee members and partners who need and seek information about their activities. In the  links below,  will find pages with additional information about NMF's active and mature funds.
