The children of Larry Diffley established an endowed scholarship fund at Northwest Minnesota Foundation in 2014 to help aspiring pilots in the local area.

The scholarship was established to honor Larry Diffley’s passion for quality aviation training and helping others who intend to become professional pilots. The Diffley scholarship fund provides annual awards to qualified applicants who plan to advance their flight training at Bemidji Aviation.  “The scholarships will be a big boost to the aviation community by providing funds to flight students who are pursuing their dream of becoming a professional pilot,” said Mark Shough, president of Bemidji Aviation.

Students who intend to advance their flight training at Bemidji Aviation, have a deep passion for flying and intend to pursue aviation as a career are invited to apply. Qualified applicants must be at least 17 years old, possess a valid 3rd Class Medical Certificate, have successfully completed the appropriate FAA written examination and achieved solo flight. Complete eligibility requirements are included with the application materials.
