October 22, 2008 – The Northwest Minnesota Foundation (NMF) recently awarded grants totaling $60,000 for support of the Emergency Assistance Program for families in Northwest Minnesota.
September 23, 2008 - Registrations are now being accepted for the Northwest Minnesota Foundation's (NMF) Cultural Competency Workshop to be held October 9 at Beltrami Electric Coop, Bemidji. Cost for residents in NMF's 12-county service area is $50 and includes materials and lunch.

Changes in programs will go into effect on July 1, 2008.

June 2008 - The Northwest Minnesota Foundation announced that it has awarded a grant for $21,500 to fund a garden project for youth who are at-risk, promoting traditional values, intergenerational communication, pride in oneself, and a healthy lifestyle.
June 2008Bemidji, MN - The McKnight Foundation awarded the Northwest Minnesota Foundation (NMF) and the five other Minnesota Initiative Foundations (MIFs) a $3 million, three-year grant to expand the Minnesota Early Childhood Initiative…A Campaign for Our Youngest Children. In the fall of 2008, the MIFs plan to add 12 early childhood coalitions, raising the statewide network of coalitions to 78.
May 29, 2008 - The Northwest Minnesota Foundation (NMF) recently announced awards of free paint for community fix-up and restoration projects. Through a collaborative effort with the Valspar Corporation and the "Picture-It-Painted" program, paint and other coating materials necessary for rehabilitation activities will be given to local towns and organizations.
April 24, 2008 - The Blandin Foundation recently announced that Northwest Minnesota Foundation is the recipient of a three-year, $300,000 grant for a partnership project that is designed to grow the economy of northwest Minnesota by outfitting the next generation of home-grown innovators for success in the global marketplace.
April 2008 - Northwest Minnesota Foundation will receive $7.2 million from the McKnight Foundation over five years to support NMF's programs, build the organization's endowment and support its development as a community foundation.
March 10, 2008 - Northwest Minnesota Foundation has been named a bronze award winner for excellence in communications by the 2008 Wilmer Shields Rich Awards Program. Sponsored by the Council on Foundations, the awards program recognizes effective communications efforts to increase public awareness of foundations and corporate giving programs.
January 7, 2008 - The Northwest Minnesota Foundation (NMF) is delivering a comprehensive, integrated training program to build the capacity of the region's nonprofit organizations and agencies. The component that focuses on Individual Excellence features six courses designed and delivered by the Center for Nonprofit Management, University of St. Thomas.
January 2008 - Thanks to recent gifts of $10,000 from two donors, the Women's Fund has achieved its goal of establishing a scholarship program and will now be offering scholarships for women in the region. In addition, these donations qualified for matching funds from the Northwest Minnesota Foundation for the Women's Fund Visionary Partner campaign.
