Free Paint Awarded for Community Restoration Projects

The Northwest Minnesota Foundation (NMF) recently announced awards of free paint for community fix-up and restoration projects. Through a collaborative effort with the Valspar Corporation and the "Picture-It-Painted" program, paint and other coating materials necessary for rehabilitation activities will be given to local towns and organizations.

"We're very pleased to help sponsor this program for another year," said Nancy Vyskocil, NMF president. "These community beautification projects add significant social and cultural value to places throughout our region. We are very grateful to Valspar for their generous contribution again this year."

Awards of 795 gallons of free paint will be made by Valspar and the NMF for the following projects:

  • Lake Pleasant Township Red Lake Falls, Lake Pleasant Town Hall, Perreault School District
  • Baudette Depot Preservation Alliance
  • City of Twin Valley, Community Center Revitalization
  • Warren Community Center, Interior Update
  • Hubbard County Historical Society, Renovation
  • Trail Centennial History Book Committee, School Building Restoration
  • Boys and Girls Club of the Bemidji Area, Repainting Locker Rooms
  • Ye Olde Schoolgrounds, Inc. Laporte, Paint Floor in Community Center
  • Birchmound Community Center, Inc., Leonard, Refresh Exteriors of Buildings
  • Buena Vista Logging Heritage Museum, Bemidji, Village Painting Project
  • The Red Lake Nation Boys and Girls Club, A Cultural Contemporary – Fresh Start
  • Clearwater Co 4-H and Clearwater Ag Society, Horse Barn Renovation
  • East Grand Forks Heritage Center, Revitalizing Sullivan Town Hall

"Valspar was very impressed with the quality of the proposals that were submitted," said Gwen Leifeld, manager of the Valspar Foundation. "The projects selected will have a positive impact on the visual character of many communities in the region."
