Northwest Minnesota Foundation Wins Wilmer Shield Rich Award
for Excellence in Communications
Bemidji, MN - March 10, 2008 - Northwest Minnesota Foundation has been named a bronze award winner for excellence in communications by the 2008 Wilmer Shields Rich Awards Program. Sponsored by the Council on Foundations, the awards program recognizes effective communications efforts to increase public awareness of foundations and corporate giving programs.
Northwest Minnesota Foundation received the award for its Resource Special Giving Edition periodical. The award will be presented at Philanthropy’s Vision: A Leadership Summit, in National Harbor, Maryland, on Monday, May 5, 2008.
"Thanks to the quality work of our communications staff, we are able to help people in our rural region to better understand the ways charitable giving makes a difference," said NMF President Nancy Vyskocil. "This aids us in meeting our mission to promote philanthropy in northwest Minnesota."
Entries to the awards program included annual or biennial reports, magazines/periodicals, special reports, public information campaigns and websites.
