The Northwest Minnesota Women's Fund has reached its goal of gaining one hundred members in the Founder's Society. Each of the members, from throughout the twelve counties in northwest Minnesota, has donated or pledged $1,000 to the Women's Fund endowment. The earnings from this fund support the mission to improve the quality of life for women and girls in northwest Minnesota.
The Northwest Minnesota Foundation (NMF) has presented the Women's fund with a tremendous new opportunity and challenge. For each dollar raised, NMF will provide a matching dollar, up to $100,000. This generous proposition means that the Women's Fund has the potential to achieve a $300,000 endowment principle in the next three to five years. Once the challenge has been met, the Women's Fund will have an endowment capable of making nearly $10,000 in grants each year to benefit women and girls in northwest Minnesota.
The Women's Fund has been receiving $1,000 pledges of support in this phase, called "Visionary Partner" level. The Visionary gift structure is similar to the Founders'. A gift or pledge may be spread out over 1-3 years and paid monthly, semi-annually or annually. All donations to the endowment, whether it is one dollar or thousands, are eligible for the match. Donors are encouraged to give within their means.
The result of these pledges has been given the extra "muscle" of dollar for dollar matching gifts, working for the mission of the Women's Fund. The commitment of these women has laid the foundation for positive change in the region.
