The Northwest Minnesota Foundation continues to have funding available through its Vaccine Incentive Program.
NMF launched the program last month to fund and support the delivery of COVID-19 vaccinations to historically disadvantaged communities.
Indigenous communities in Northwest Minnesota are disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. In Minnesota, Native Americans have the highest COVID-19 case fatality rate: 1.7% of positive COVID-19 cases result in death for Native American and Alaskan Natives, compared to 1.2% of case fatalities for the total population.
The Vaccine Incentive Program offers the potential of covering the cost of vaccination incentives, event space costs, event amenities, food, and a nominal administration fee (up to 6% of the total grant amount awarded). NMF’s goal is to provide funding for a minimum of five community events, 10 on-site agency events, and funding incentives to encourage 300 people to get vaccinated. Total funding available is $48,000, and grant amounts are anticipated to be between $5,000 and $10,000.
