Students Encouraged to Consider a ‘Future in Space’

By May 13, 2022 No Comments

The Neen’s Future in Space Scholarship is still accepting applications!

Details on the scholarship can be found HERE, which is open for juniors and seniors in college who are majoring in the study of science, math, technology or engineering with the preference for students entering a career in astrophysics, aeronautical engineering, or aerospace. The deadline to apply is May 31st.

We want to highlight the last recipient of this scholarship, Carter Novacek, who used this scholarship toward his ongoing efforts to “reinvent himself” and his career.

As he shared in a thank you note to the funders of the scholarship:

I would like to thank you for the opportunity of reinventing myself with this scholarship. I look forward to finishing my mission in getting a degree in aerospace engineering.

There are challenges with anything in life, but it is engaging to know that others have had the same dreams and are willing to help others achieve success. Thank you for the scholarship.

After a life changing injury, I decided to go to school. I started at Northland Community and Technical College and look forward to finishing at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in Aerospace Engineering. Using this degree to work in the industry of aviation, space technologies or in the Geo Space analyst in Minnesota.

The opportunities are great, challenges are just as great but with the support from family, instructors and this foundation, anything is possible.

I look forward to telling people my story and the help that is out there from great people and this foundation.

We can’t wait to hear more about where Carter’s journey takes him. And we hope that anyone else who might be considering a “future in space” take the time to learn more about this great scholarship opportunity.
